"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

After graduating from Chicago Technical College as an engineer, Floyd Alden Schlossberg began working in the construction industry in the early 1960s.  In 1961 Floyd founded Alden Bennett Construction Co. Inc. and primarily built schools, fire stations, park district field houses and libraries for the City of Chicago. However, in the late 1960s, his wife’s grandfather fell ill and required 24-hour nursing care, but in searching for a home he recognized a need for quality nursing care and affordable healthcare for the aging populations.  Expanding on his vision of what healthcare should be, Floyd built his first licensed Skilled Nursing facility in 1970.  In order to control and manage all aspect of design, he hired his own architectural firm to work exclusively on his projects which ultimately lead to the creation of Alden Design Group, Inc in 1990.
